Handcrafted on the shores of Lake Ashi in Japan by master artisans in a village renowned for traditional inlay work spanning approximately 300 years. It can discreetly hold a valuable gift, yet it is equally stunning when given empty — the box itself is already a exquisite jewel and a sophisticated puzzle.

About Yosegi Inlay Work

Yosegi inlay, characteristic of the Hakone region near Lake Ashi, is said to have been developed by Nihei Ishikawa during the final years of the Edo period (1603–1868). This sophisticated woodworking technique showcases the subtle beauty of natural wood grains and colors through intricate geometric patterns. Passed down through generations, it represents one of the most refined arts in Japanese woodworking. The same meticulous filing process used to create these patterned trays, boxes, and drawers produces the distinctive and mesmerizing motifs found in every Yosegi piece.
